Date Ideas, Experiences, and Wishlist
Wanna take me out for a first date, but not sure where you’d like to go? Here are my suggestions for cultural activities and restaurants in London and Berlin.
DINING
There are many famous restaurants in Berlin and London that I've been yearning to experience. If you're as curious and voracious as me, let me accompany you on your culinary journey. The best things are enjoyed in good company, after all.
PS: These are only suggestions. I'm not a snob and am equally happy to be going to a hole in the wall dim sum place. But if you want to experience something special, I'm more than happy to go along for the ride.
Here are some restaurants in Berlin I've been especially curious about:
COOKIES CREAM (plant-based/vegan)
RUTZ (only three-star Michelin restaurant in Berlin)
Nobelhart & Schmutzig (creative food using only local ingredients)
Horváth (looks gorgeous)
The selection in London beggars belief, but I'll always be happy to be taken to L'Escargot in Soho, a classic and a long time favourite. I love French and Japanese cuisine as well as upscale British cooking, but I'm open-minded and there's nothing I won't try at least once - maybe twice. I'm also very fond of Brilliant Corners in Hackney, whose sashimi is absolutely to die for, and The English Restaurant/The Market Coffee House & Bar near Liverpool Street Station, whose beautiful ambience always puts me at ease. I've wanted to go back to Myung Ga for a long time, to see if their Korean's still as good as I remember.
Here are some I've been curious to try in London:
Evelyn's Table (modern cuisine, Soho)
A. Wong (upscale Chinese, Victoria)
Ikoyi (the Strand)
Sketch, the Lecture Room and Library (Mayfair)
Harwood Arms (Fulham - a pub)
Culture
I am a total film buff. When in London, I love going to the beautiful BFI at South Bank, and if you'd take me I'd find that absolutely charming. Berlin is full of cinemas - I'm happy to recommend a few. I love going to art and photography exhibitions, as well as archaeology and history, and I love the theatre. Berlin apparently has the most opera performances per year of any city in the world - so far I've found Deutsche Oper the most impressive. I'm happy to accompany you to any kind of concert, from jazz to singer-songwriter to black metal.
